Trace Cyrus And Brenda Song Won’t Be Getting Married Anytime Soon
News from

Don’t go out and buy those wedding gifts just yet…

Trace Cyrus and Brenda Song are engaged, but a wedding could be very, VERY far down into the future.

And both of them are okay with that.

Well, at least Trace is…

He says:

“Every girl wants a big, beautiful wedding. I want to have a Vegas wedding, but [Brenda] doesn’t want to do that, of course. Every girl wants a big, beautiful wedding.

When I asked her [to marry me], I told her, ‘I don’t care if we get married tomorrow, two weeks from now, a year from now or 10 years from now; it doesn’t matter. We feel like we’re almost married right now.”

You might as well just put a ring on her now, Trace. What’s the point of waiting if this is the girl of your dreams??

Just put a ring on it already!

Tourism officials upgrade wedding planning website to include more venues and …
News from Washington Post:

CONCORD, N.H. — New Hampshire tourism officials want state businesses to feel the love with a wedding planning website to lure couples planning their big day.

The website features hundreds of venues and allows planners to search by indoor and outdoor facilities and reception space.

The website www.visitnh/weddings also helps wedding planners find photographers, florists, bakers, printers, caterers and other services.

Tourism officials say the website is a way to showcase the distinctive wedding experiences New Hampshire has to offer, from mountaintops to lakesides to its inns and grand old hotels.

The travel and tourism department also is launching a Facebook page to create an interactive forum for planners and host properties and service providers.

Getting hitched? Wedding planners are in their busy season
News from Peoria Journal Star:

Whether gushing over a holiday engagement or anticipating a flower-laden fall reception, Oz Bakirdan said that now is the time to plan the perfect wedding.

Bakirdan, the owner of Bridal Palace and Dejure Formal Wear, said January and February are always the busiest months of the year for making wedding arrangements.

“Finding the right dress, flowers and photographer are all big decisions, so we try to take the stress out of wedding shopping,” said Bakirdan, whose business hosts central Illinois’ largest bridal show, Wedding of a Lifetime, each January at the Civic Center. “When planning a wedding, you can never be too early, but you can be too late.”

Sara O’Shea, owner of So Chic Events and Bridal in Morton, said the main wedding booking season is January through March because of the prevalence of bridal shows and end of the year engagements.

“Sixty-five percent of engagements happen between Thanksgiving and Christmas, because people are around family and loved ones and are motivated to share the great news,” said O’Shea, who has enjoyed meeting hundreds of couples looking for assistance.

“For most people, this is their first and only wedding, so I love being able to help articulate their vision because each one is totally different,” she added.

Dave Cramer, co-owner of Floral Expressions, agreed that all things wedding-related…………… continues on Peoria Journal Star

HLOM: Wedding gowns unite fashion, customs
News from The Daily News Online:

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue  and a silver sixpence in her shoe.

Many brides will remember following part of this custom when they got married but probably did not know that that each item in the poem represented a good-luck token for the bride. If she carried all of them on her wedding day, her marriage would be happy.

The different eras influenced what a bride would wear. In the Victorian era, 1800s wearing hoops and petticoats underneath a gown were popular; they added volume to the gown and also prevented the bride’s legs from showing.  Before Queen Victoria married in 1840 brides were married in different colors.  Hence the poem “Married in white, you will have chosen all right. Married in grey, you will go far away. Married in black, you will wish yourself back…”  Queen Victoria was responsible for making the white gown fashionable when she married her cousin Albert of Saxe-Coburg.  Custom decided that white was the most fitting color for a bride and it didn’t matter the material.  White represented purity and the innocence of girlhood.

In later years of the Industrial Revolution, 1880s, the arrival of the department store made the possibility of a dream wedding gown a reality.  White was also a popular color for frontier brides.  Their dress would be very practical and could be worn ag…………… continues on The Daily News Online

So why is this woman wearing wellies with her wedding dress?
News from Belfast Telegraph:

By Stephanie Bell
Monday Jan 30 2012

… because dozens of women will be teaming big boots with the expensive gowns from their big days to raise money on a Fermanagh charity walk in March.

It’s a rare combination and one which will make for a mesmerising sight when dozens of women team their wedding dresses with wellies for a unique charity walk. The bridal-themed event is being staged in the picturesque grounds of Castle Coole in Fermanagh in March to raise cash for Enniskillen-based charity, Cancer Connect Northern Ireland.

Not only is the novel ‘Wedding Dress and Wellies Walk’ a good excuse for married women to get a second chance to wear the gown of their dreams, but bridesmaids, flower girls and even grooms are invited to get dressed up and take part.

The event was the idea of local girl Ciara Elliott (30), who lost her mum, Rosemary McManus, to cancer last year, aged 57. Ciara, from Enniskillen, said that her mum got great strength and support from Cancer Connect during the three years she battled cancer of the duodenum (bowel).

Before her mum took sick, Ciara had planned to marry in Italy, but cancelled it and got married at home so her ill mum could attend. Now one of her fondest memories of her mum is from her wedding day, which is why Ciara decided on a bridal theme for her charity event.

Whatcom jewelers give ideas for wedding rings
News from Bellingham Herald:

While the wedding day comes and goes in what feels like a heartbeat, a couple’s rings are a lasting reminder of their vows.

There are so many options in the world of wedding rings – diamond cuts and colors, settings and even custom creations. Whether a couple’s budget is sky high or on a shoestring, there’s a ring out there that will be the perfect fit.

“It’s not about cost as much as it’s about that you’re going to look at it every day for the rest of your life,” says Pam Hunnicutt, owner of Bellingham jeweler G.B. Heron. “It’s about ‘I love him and he loves me.’”

Here are a few ideas for rings for brides and grooms from Whatcom County jewelers.

Simplicity in style

For the man who wants something unfussy, durable and sleek, there’s nothing like a stainless steel wedding band. “They’re just really good, clean, simple lines,” Digs co-owner Ben Knudsen said of the bands made by German brand Xen. “They’re timeless. They hold up really well, too.” The band is available for $ 90 from Digs, 200 W. Holly St., Bellingham.

Touch of texture

This hammered white gold band is elegantly textured and perfect for the man who wants some detail but nothing too busy. This ring, made by GelinAbaci, is finger-shaped, rather than round, to make it more…………… continues on Bellingham Herald

Oddball Indian wedding rituals

Oddball Indian wedding rituals
News from Times of India:

If you thought wedding ceremonies can’t get more bizarre than the groom breaking a wine glass by stepping on it at a Jewish wedding, or the Finnish bride going from door to door with a pillowcase to collect her wedding gifts accompanied by an old man with an umbrella, think again.

Not only are Baltic or Greek wedding traditions peculiar, some of our very own rituals surrounding the wedding can be as off-the-wall. True, a wedding brings happy tidings to the family, but it is after all the eclectic rituals associated with it that make for real memories.

The most common perception of a Hindu wedding is the lighting up of the Vedic fire around which the bride and groom walk seven times while the priest chants mantras. Assumingly for the sake of brevity, almost all television series or cinema dealing with a Hindu wedding conjures up an image similar to this. Then what about the many awkward and flamboyant rituals that precede or succeed it, rituals that are unique to every culture, rituals that are perhaps relevant no more but lovingly adhered to.

With the wedding season upon us, let’s vet some truly obscure

Attendants find friendship more important that fashion
News from Bellingham Herald:

Weddings are a celebration of commitment for most couples and their closest friends and family. But for bridesmaids trapped in bright pink polyester dresses with matching pillbox hats, they can be a nightmare.

This story is common in the wedding business, says Stephanie Murillo, owner of Gown & Glove Bridal Consignment in Bellingham.

Bridesmaids and groomsmen don’t know if they can complain or if they should keep quiet about poor wedding fashion, she says.

“It’s not about them, it’s about the couple,” she says. “But that doesn’t mean they can’t say something.”

Wedding attendants are an essential part of the celebration, Murillo says. Learning proper wedding etiquette and knowing what to say to stressed-out brides can make things easier for the couple and their guests, she says.

Murillo knows how it feels to be a wedding attendant. At her best friend’s wedding a few years ago, she said she hated her friend’s choice in bridesmaids’ dresses.

“It wasn’t flattering and it wasn’t something I’d ever wear again,” she says.

Although she didn’t like the dress, she says supporting her friend was more important than looking fashionable at the reception.

“The wedding’s a one-time deal,” Murillo says. “I knew I’d never wear the dress again. I wanted to support her ev…………… continues on Bellingham Herald

2012 Bridal Expo Helped Brides with EVERYTHING
News from Greenwood Today:

Article written by GwdToday Reporter, Rachel Davis

Thursday’s Praise Unlimited Weddings 2012 Bridal Expo was a hit! It was a great opportunity for brides-to-be to either “get their feet wet” with wedding planning ideas or “jump head first” and plan everything at once. There were vendors available to hire for photos, cakes, tuxedos, bridesmaids dresses, bridal gowns, alterations, decorations, entertainment… the list could go on!

Every bride or bride-to-be knows how stressful and overwhelming wedding planning can be, so Nita Hozey of Praise Unlimited Weddings has coordinated this Bridal Expo for years and this was the best one yet! Depending on the bride’s ideas, this literally could have been a “one stop shop” for a wedding.

One of the most fun parts… the bridal fashion show! All brides look forward to choosing that special dress, but sometimes it can become very overwhelming with everything to choose from. Luckily, the fashion show was a great resource to see several kinds of dresses on several different body types without having to go through the…………… continues on Greenwood Today

Bridal budgeting blues
News from Trinidad Guardian:

Leslie and Antonette Brusco have been happily married since December 10, 2011.

Wedding planning, as exciting as it is, can also bring anxiety, disagreement and frustration to the table. Last week, I received an e-mail from a bride-to-be in distress, which said: “My fiancé and I are in the process of planning our wedding. The problem is that we cannot agree on what type of wedding to have. He is Hindu, and I come from a Hindu home, but I am Presbyterian. My dream wedding is on a beach in Tobago but he thinks a beach wedding is impractical. Can you help me? He is driving me crazy with all his negativity.” This e-mail highlights two of the most common areas that cause “couple tension”—religion and decisions regarding planning elements. Based on the e-mail I get to, religion seems to be the most common ground for engaged couples’ disagreements, and it may be largely because of cultural factors and familial expectations.

Many couples choose to have double ceremonies (ie, two types of religious ceremonies on different days) in order to bridge this gap and also to appease their families. In other situations, one person may choose to convert to his/her fiance(e)’s religion. Other couples elope or opt for civil ceremonies. Some couples even choose to live together to see whether their cultures…………… continues on Trinidad Guardian

Wedding Dress trends for 2012
News from Daily Gossip:

Brides magazine has published the latest wedding dress trends for 2012. These pieces of information will turn out useful for all brides to be, regardless of the season in which they will walk down the aisle, so make sure you read the entire article.

Illusion necklines represent the most recurrent trend of the year, judging by the numerous fashion designers who adopted them in their bridal collections. Critics have described it as an “illusion” because this element of the dress is usually made out of sheer, delicate material that is embellished with various designs. The neckline is transparent enough to see some skin without being, however, vulgar.

The majority of the wedding dresses that have been created this year are unique because they have two tiers.  This design is perfect for brides who want to camouflage wider hips because the top tier is not tight fitting.

Most wedding dresses in 2012 will be embellished with horsehair trim. This doesn’t mean that the dress will be made out of horsehair; it is a synthetic material that is often used on the underskirts of gowns to create a crisper hemline. Last ye…………… continues on Daily Gossip
