Chantelle Houghton And Alex Reid Shop For Wedding Dresses TOGETHER
News from Huffington Post UK:

For most couples the groom seeing the wedding dress ahead of the big day is a definite no-no.

But as for the ever-sharing Chantelle Houghton and Alex Reid, nothing ceases to surprise us.

The expectant parents were spotted shopping for wedding dresses TOGETHER at The National Wedding Show held at London’s Olympia yesterday.

Chantelle – who is five months pregnant – looked fit to burst at the show cradling her bump and tottering around in snakeskin high-heeled boots.

But she didn’t look too impressed by Alex’s choice in bridal wear, laughing as he pulled out a nice white and puffy number for his future bride.

Well, it wouldn’t be the first time his taste has been called into question…

And Chantelle and Alex don’t just share everything they do with each other, oh no. They’re quite happy to tell the world about things that really should stay between them.

In an interview with New! magazine, Alex admitted he plan’s to drink his partner’s breast milk.

Chantelle was asked if she planned to breastfeed but before she got the chance to reply Alex chipped in, saying: “I definitely will! 100%,” he said. “Breast milk has a lot of colostrum in it, which is great for athletes.”

And the revelations didn’t stop the couple were intent on inflicting further unnecessary information on the pu…………… continues on Huffington Post UK

5 Tips To Cut Wedding Costs
News from San Francisco Chronicle:

Weddings are big business. We’ve all heard that the word “wedding” in front of photographer or caterer will automatically double the price you’re quoted. But did you know that the average U.S. couple spends $ 26,542 on their big day? With the majority spending between about $ 19,000 and $ 33,000.

So how can you stop your fairytale day from turning into a financial nightmare? It’s worth remembering the financial impact of your wedding day. One of the biggest causes of divorce is debt and financial worries – so don’t start married life with financially crippling debts.

Here are some tips for holding your wedding on a budget.

Set a Budget to Begin With
This might seem an obvious point, but so many couples fail to start at the very beginning: work out what your maximum spend can be. Before you book anywhere or buy a single thing for your big day, figure out how much money is in your wedding fund. This will ensure that you don’t have a mountain of debt to come home to from your honeymoon.

If you can possibly avoid it, don’t borrow money for the wedding. continues on San Francisco Chronicle

Expo helps brides-to-be plan weddings
News from Blue Springs Examiner:

Hannah Hausmann gives her middle school social studies students a five-minute update each Monday on her wedding planning endeavors.

After that, her students aren’t allowed all week to ask any more questions about Hausmann’s upcoming September wedding.

But following Hausmann’s experiences this past weekend, she may have needed more than five minutes on Monday.

Hausmann of Lee’s Summit was one of more than 300 attendees at The Examiner’s annual Bridal Expo on Saturday at The Pavilion at John Knox Village in Lee’s Summit. The day included a morning and an afternoon fashion show, as well as vendor displays for venues, food, bridal wear, photography and other wedding planning-related details.

The 26-year-old bride-to-be was joined by two women who have more than 60 years of combined marriage experience: her mother, Judi Hausmann, married for 29 years, and the mother of her fiancé, Brenda Lipps, who has been married 33 years.

In the little more than a month since her Jan. 21 engagement to Adam Lipps, Hannah Hausmann has set a date for their wedding (Sept. 2), selected a venue and even bought a wedding dress.

Hausmann is still seeking ideas, though, which led her to attend the expo. Catering and tuxedos, she said, were the top details she wants to finalize next. At the expo, Hausmann said she saw a tuxedo design she loved, as well as…………… continues on Blue Springs Examiner

Florist suggests planning early, keeping open mind for wedding
News from The Times and Democrat:

It’s probably one of the most important decisions you’ll ever make.

Well, not really, but it is a pretty important decision on perhaps the biggest day of your life. And one local florist says you can never plan too early when choosing your wedding flowers.

“Get with a knowledgeable florist, and make a wish list of what you like — the flowers and the colors — so you have ideas of what you want,” said Daryl Cate, owner of The Garden Gate Florist on Carolina Avenue in Orangeburg. “It should reflect your personality, not that of the florist.

“The flowers are an accent, not the focus.”

But they may seem like they’re the focus of the day, particularly when you’re expected to purchase floral accessories for yourself and the groom, all wedding party attendants, both sets of parents and grandparents, any greeters and special guests, the musicians, the director and the list goes on. And don’t forget table centerpieces for the reception, and altar and church arrangements.

While he’s seen wedding flower tallies range from $ 300 to $ 30,000, Cate places the average spent somewhere between $ 2,000 and $ 2,500.

Cate, whose business is called upon to prepare flowers for some 60 nuptials a year, said he hasn’t seen a huge decline in the number of weddings he’s helped prepare for in recent years, but he has seen a decline in…………… continues on The Times and Democrat

Bridal-gown event could evoke Filene’s Basement deja vu
News from Boston.com:

Even though the famous Filene’s Basement wedding dress sale “Running of the Brides” is no more, Boston-area brides can still get a chance to buy discounted wedding dresses this year.

Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries and Lasell College are hosting “Brides on a Budget,” an event that will display high-end wedding dresses for sale starting at $ 100. The event was held for the first time as a two-day sale in 2009, and will happen again this Sunday, March 4, from noon to 4 p.m., at the Goodwill headquarters at 1010 Harrison Ave. Parking is free.

The dresses were donated from an anonymous bridal boutique through the Lasell Fashion Collection. The college’s fashion students will be at the event to offer free styling services to the brides-to-be.

Proceeds from the event will go toward job training and youth service programs offered through Goodwill, according to Terry Fitzpatrick, vice president of retail enterprise at Goodwill.

‘The Bachelor’ Wedding: Courtney Robertson Plans Fake Wedding For Ben Flajnik
News from Huffington Post:

The 16th season of “The Bachelor” isn’t over yet, but that hasn’t stopped one contestant from planning a full-on wedding.

On Monday’s episode of ABC’s “The Bachelor,” a reality TV show in which 25 women compete for the love of one man, contestant Courtney Robertson confessed her love to bachelor Ben Flajnik in a mock wedding ceremony.

“This is the best way I can think of to show Ben how I feel about him,” the model said of the faux nuptials, which took place in her hometown of Scottsdale, Arizona. “We’re at this place where I’ve always wanted to get married and I’ve got a little wedding planned.”

After Flajnik met her family, Robertson led the Sonoma winemaker to a park area set up with chairs, an altar, wedding decorations, rings — and even a stand-in officiant.

Robertson, who donned a white dress for the occasion, made Flajnik write his vows right on the spot.

Congratulations, graduates! Bill Mason’s campaign fund is gift that keeps on …
News from Plain Dealer:

Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Here’s a test to determine whether your graduate is more than book smart: Was County Prosecutor Bill Mason invited to the graduation party?

If the answer is yes, enroll the kid in Harvard. Mason doles out cash to graduates, and newlyweds, like it’s not coming out of his own pocket.

Mainly because it’s not.

Continuing his regular practice, Mason billed his campaign $ 1,150 for wedding and graduation gifts last year, according to his campaign finance report.

The executive director of the Ohio Elections Commission calls the gifts questionable.

They’d be allowed under state law only if the recipient were tied to Mason’s office or campaign, said Elections Commission Executive Director Phil Richter. How are these recipients tied? “It’s definitely something that somewhere someone needs to ask some questions,” Richter said.

We asked questions and got this prepared response via email through Mason’s spokeswoman:

Couple should plan their own celebration

Couple should plan their own celebration
News from Baltimore Sun:

Dear Amy: Next month my beloved wife and I will celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. My wife has three children from previous marriages. All three children have had successful careers.

My wife and I have good relationships with her children, whereas the oldest child is somewhat distant from the younger two.

Recently, I asked my wife if her children were planning a celebration of our 50th anniversary, a usual practice if I read the papers correctly.

She replied that she knew of no such plans, and knowing her, she will not probe the children or ask them to step up.

I support her position entirely. On the other hand, I will be disappointed if her children do not make any formal acknowledgment of this anniversary, but I would not be surprised.

Should we just go ahead and plan our own modest observance?

— Sad Dad

Dear Dad: You should definitely plan to celebrate this impressive milestone in your marriage.

Don’t make it “modest,” however. Throw yourselves a giant blowout, if possible.

You should consider the idea that these three adults are actually planning something on their own — children sometimes try to plan a surprise celebration for this occasion.

When you make your plans, make sure to let the kids know well in advance; if they are…………… continues on Baltimore Sun
