Ace designer Rocky S spoke exclusively to Ritika Arora about his collection. And also shared his future plans to join the shaadi industry

Designer Rocky S launched his new spectacular collection titled Vilasa by Rocky S, on day four of WIFW 2012.

His pieces, with their signature touch of couture, comprised bridal saris.

As well as as lehengas that had been embellished with swarovski crystals, and zardozi embroidery.

Talking about the concept, Rocky said, “The idea was to preserve old Indian traditions. It took three months. According to me, creating bridal dresses is not easy. It takes hard work. And many people put in their effort. Creating prêt lines, take far less time.”

Rocky explained that inspiration for Vilasa, came from a beautiful old painting of a woman, by a renowned Indian artist. “We designers are artists first. When I studied the painting, the concept immediately came to mind. Every bride wants to look beautiful on her D-day. So the clothes I made, use lots of zardozi on silhouettes.”

The designer used brocades, jamawar, pure silk and georgette once again.

The colour palette included shades of deep red, rust, ivories, and dark maroon.

Price ranges from Rs 70,000-2 lakh.

Celebrity wedding planner David Tutera will make a stop in Chattanooga this weekend as part of the 2012 Formal Affair bridal show on Sunday.

Tutera is host of WE TV’s (Women’s Entertainment Television) “My Fair Wedding,” a series that takes everyday brides-to-be and creates their fairy tale weddings in a short period of time. 

At age 19, Tutera opened his first events planning business with just one client. Today, the style-maker said he still loves his job, which ranges from planning parties for celebrities, designing weddings and events all over the world and lecturing on the art of creating a stylish event.

Nooga (N): What will you be doing at the bridal show in Chattanooga this weekend?

David Tutera (DT): This will be a sort of a collaboration of many things. I will be speaking to the brides-to-be … and really talking about the various plans to begin that process to walk down the aisle. A lot of times when I am speaking they really want to hear the inside and outside of the show. So there will be that.
