Choose the Right Colors for Your Wedding Dresses

Many brides use their favorite colors for their wedding dresses – pink, red, fuchsia, burgundy, plum, mauve, purple, or blue. But before you choose colors, see if you can’t find some photos of various weddings from the past. Look at a variety of color patterns and combinations before making your choice. You might find colors that you like much better than your usual favorites.

Consider how the colors of your wedding dresses will look with other colorful items once it is all put together for the big wedding day. The bridesmaid dresses will be matched with flowers, tuxedos, mother of the bride dresses, flower girl dresses, accessori…………… continues on Bay Net

Planning a wedding before the proposal? Let Pinterest help
News from

If you look at Alicia Carlson’s wedding board on Pinterest, you might assume her big day is imminent. From the flowers and the food to the dress and the ’do, she seems to have everything planned right down to the last detail. But the title of the virtual bulletin board, “…someday!” offers a clue to the one component that’s still missing: the proposal.

Although they’re not engaged yet, Carlson and her boyfriend, Joe Yorio, 25, have been dating for two years and have talked about getting married. “I’m getting good ideas, so when we do get engaged, I’ll be able to pull it up and say this is what I want,” the 26-year-old Ohio State graduate student told

She isn’t alone: A growing number of women seem to be using the social networking site to plan their dream weddings, despite the fact that they don’t yet have a fiancé — or, in some cases, a boyfriend. BuzzFeed recently posted screenshots of the trend, accompanied by some not-so-empathetic commentary.

Carlson admits she initially thought Pinterest was a bit strange. “I remember seeing single women with baby boards and thinking ‘What the heck is this?’”

Southern wedding dress designer speaks at AU
News from Opelika Auburn News:

Anne Barge was a small-town girl in Cordele, Ga., who designed dresses for her kindergarten friends and drew wedding dress sketches in class instead of paying attention to her teacher. From a young age she knew what she wanted to be when she grew up: a wedding dress designer.

After working in the bridal fashion industry for many years, Barge secured the means to create her own bridal gown line, which releases a spring and fall collection each year. Her high-end designs have been worn by celebrities including Amber Riley of Glee at the Screen Actor Guild awards.

“For people to refer to you as an international bridal designer when you’re from South Georgia, that’s a good thing,” Barge said.

Barge, the keynote speaker at the 25th annual Grisham-Trentham lecture at Auburn University Thursday, offered design students and others insight into how she left a small Georgia town and made a name for herself in the fashion industry.

After graduating high school, Barge briefly attended Syracuse University and then transferred to the University of Georgia. Weeks before graduation, she heard of a Priscilla of Boston trunk show and attended the event under the guise of a bride, but with sketch books in tow.

Glam slam: 5 Hollywood-inspired bridal trends

Angelina’s leg bomb dominated the Oscars, but who knew the leggy look would end up being a huge trend in the bridal world?! Dan Rentillo, design director for David’s Bridal, reveals the top five celebrity-inspired looks and how brides can add some Hollywood glamour to their big day!

A little bit of leg
“From the Golden Globes to the Oscars, stars including Charlize Theron and Angelina Jolie were seen wearing gowns with sultry, thigh-baring slits. This high fashion look is now being seen in bridal and translates perfectly for the bride that is a little daring, but wants to remain sophisticated and glamorous on her wedding day. A favorite style secret of mine: by showing a flash of leg, a woman’s silhouette is elongated, making her look slimmer and taller, which is always on trend.”

Tea-length skirts
“Tea-length skirts offer a retro feeling for spring and summer brides who want a leggy look that can still be seen as formal. Emma Stone wore this look by Alexander McQueen earlier this year to the Screen Actors Guild Awards. The key to correctly wearing this trend is to make sure that the skirt hem hits at the calf or shin, as you never want to go too short.”<…………… continues on

Wedding Q&A

Wedding Q&A
News from New York Times:

How to Let People Know They’re Not Invited

My question is how to deal with letting people who are friends or relatives who are close but not close enough to make the 125-guest limit? Many people who are important just cannot fit onto the guest list. How to announce the marriage as good news without an invitation or expectation of a gift?

This is indeed a happy time for you and your family, so go right ahead and share the good news about your daughter’s engagement, even with those who, at this point, might not make the guest list. At the same time, don’t raise expectations of an invitation, often identified by the question “When’s the wedding?” Keep your answer on the vague side, making sure to emphasize that the guest list will be limited: “I am so excited about the engagement. There’s a flurry of planning already under way. No date has been set yet, but the wedding is probably going to be quite small.”

Almost every couple and their families face this same problem in one form or another: too many friends or too many relatives, and how do you choose among them? The easiest solution is to create logical cutoffs. For example, you might include aunts, uncles and the couple’s first cousins, but draw the line at second cousins. Kris Humphries Stole Wedding Gifts to Give to Family
News from Gather Celebs News Channel:

Kris Humphries made a big deal out of Kim Kardashian keeping the wedding gifts after the marriage ended after 72 days, because she appeared as greedy. He kept making an issue out of her keeping the gifts rather than returning them to the rightful owners after the marriage didn’t last. Then she donated money to the Dream Foundation rather than returning the gifts and it was rumored that she gave her entire family Rolex watches for some of the money she got as wedding gifts.

Well, a new report claims that Kris himself actually gave away tons of the expensive wedding gifts he attacked Kim for not returning. In fact, he supposedly gave the gifts to his family rather than returning them himself, which would essentially make him a hypocrite. Perhaps he decided to give the gifts away when he realized that Kim would be keeping the gifts, so he at least got something out of this entire ordeal.

“He gave a ton of sh*t to his family,” a source says about Kris Hump…………… continues on Gather Celebs News Channel

Anne Hathaway’s Wedding Planning Ruining Relationship
News from Gather Celebs News Channel:

Anne Hathaway accepted a proposal for marriage when her boyfriend Adam Shulman got down on one knee last November and proposed marriage. However, it seems that the joy of being engaged isn’t exactly what this couple is experiencing these days. According to a report by Radar Online, Anne is so involved with the wedding planning process that she is forgetting to keep her fiancé happy and it appears that he is getting frustrated with her. He probably feels forgotten.

“Anne’s been in charge of everything from the place settings to the music,” a source has said about the relationship. It seems that she is planning the wedding she always wanted without taking his needs and desires into consideration. “But now, she and Adam are fighting over the size of the wedding. Anne wants it to be small and intimate, while Adam’s family has a potential guest list of over 200 people,” the source continues. And it seems that things are so bad between them that friends are worried that the nuptials may not even happen.

A wedding is all about the dress

A wedding is all about the dress
News from Times LIVE:

For the “white” wedding, the easy part is setting the date and deciding on a list of guests to invite. Then the hard work begins. Apart from being a special event sentimentally, your wedding day could be one of the most expensive days of your life.

According to Amanda Cunningham of The Wedding Expo: “The average spend for a (South African) wedding is in the region of R150 000. With more than 200 000 weddings a year, that is more than R30-billion spend.”

For most brides-to-be, it is the wedding dress that takes up the most time, thought and planning. And rightly so.

You have options. Firstly, you could borrow your mother’s dress or buy something from a chain store. But you’ll probably be looking for a gown of your own or something more special than what you could find at chain stores.

It is the dress that makes the bride feel comfortable and confident on her big day. And when the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren gaze lovingly at photographs of your wedding, it is the dress they will be talking about.

You can buy a dress from a specialised wedding boutique, such as the soon-to-be opened Pronovias in Sandton, which dresses brides in 75 countries. A family company, Pronovias started as a speciality bridal service for Catalonia’s high-society brides in the 1800s. It still offers a specialised shopping experience.

New Business: Say “I Do” Bridal Boutique
News from My veronanj:

Last August, as summer was winding down, a new business venture started for Adrienne Castellano, a Verona resident for the past 20 years. Say “I Do” Bridal Boutique in Caldwell found a new owner and it’s been a rewarding experience for both Castellano and the store ever since. Bringing in new lines of wedding dresses and updating the selections for the mother of the bride and mother of the groom has helped Castellano create an inventory that is unique compared to other stores in the area. The reward for Castellano is that she always sees new faces and it’s a happy time for her customers.

How did Castellano come to own the store? It was a case of being in the right place at the right time and pursuing the right opportunity. The previous owners were considering closing the store. Castellano, who had been working there as a seamstress for three years, loved the customer interaction and couldn’t fathom a closing. This was her opportunity, and while she’s busier than she’s ever been, there are no regrets.  Her industry knowledge and work with brides made this new venture a perfect fit.  Her favorite part of owning a bridal shop? “Dress buying trips in New York, and the stories people share with me.”

However, her talents reside not only in…………… continues on My veronanj
