Treasure hunter finds lost wedding ring, returns it to couple
News from Fox News:

A unique wedding ring lost in the Gulf of Mexico has been found by a southwest Florida treasure hunter.

Sarah Whitten-Grigsby and Les Grigsby had matching titanium wedding rings with colored dots around the bands. Les Grigsby’s ring slipped from his hand into the waters off Venice in June.

For months, the couple would describe the ring to anyone they saw at the beach with a metal detector.

Mark DesErmia of Venice found the ring in January about 50 feet from shore and tracked down the couple around Valentine’s Day.

The Sarasota Herald-Tribune reports that DesErmia has found a ring lost in the waters before. In 2007, he found a 1967 Stanley Cup championship ring that former Toronto Maple Leafs hockey star Jim Pappin had lost in the 1970s.

Can We Stop Shaming Women For Their Offbeat Wedding Dresses?
News from xoJane:

Recently, “The Big Bang Theory” actress Kaley Cuoco released pictures of her wedding, donning a pink gown. The custom creation was made by none other than bridal designer to the stars, Vera Wang, closely resembling look 7 from her Fall 2014 bridal collection. Cuoco asserted that she wanted to wear pink and Wang made that easy, as her entire selection for the autumn season was comprised of designs in the rosy hue.
On V. Wang’s blog, she described her inspiration as “Pink as sensual, pink as seductive, pink as dreamy, pink as sophisticated, pink as strong, pink as cool. Think pink!” She christened pink as being the shade of the modern bride, who is bucking tradition because of her penchant to be fashion-forward.

Cuoco wasn’t the first celebrity to don a pink gown either, as Gwen Stefani, Reese With…………… continues on xoJane

6 signs you’re too stressed over wedding planning
News from The Providence Journal:

You know wedding planning has taken over your life when these things start happening.

1. You’re using your lunch hour to run wedding errands instead of eating.

Skipping meals is bad news for your mood — and more important, your wedding fitness plan! It can lead to exaggerated emotions, amped-up stress and an overall dark cloud over your head (sound familiar?). Basically, making a habit of planning instead of lunching is a lose-lose.

Set a limit on how often you can swap your salad for a wedding task. “I decided that only one lunch per week was allowed to be wedding-related and the rest needed to be a break,” says Chelsea, a user on TheKnot.com.

2. Your fiancé starts joking (or maybe not joking) about eloping.

If your fiancé is less involved in the planning process than you are, he probably decided to lie low about the wedding … until it got really bad.

Sometimes it takes a reality check from someone else to know it’s time to put the brakes on wedding worries — even if it’s something you don’t want to hear.

“I knew I was on overload when my fiancé told me he was going to be so glad when the wedding was all over, so he wouldn’t have to hear about it anymore,” says Bethany.

3. The most exciting thing that’s happened in your bedroom lately is watching “Say Yes to the Dress” on TV.

Whether it’s because you’re sp…………… continues on The Providence Journal

When planning your wedding take a deep breath … and a step back from Pinterest
News from Hilton Head Island Packet:

In the age of Pinterest and theKnot.com, it’s easy for engaged couples to get overwhelmed by the wealth of ideas out there.

The bride and groom have to pick a venue, a theme, a color scheme, someone to officiate the ceremony. They have to decide on the wedding party and guests, seating arrangements, the type of food they’ll eat, how it’ll be served, what will it be served on and should they have cake or cupcakes or pies or cake pops, or would that be weird? Then there’s the dress, the flowers, the favors, the gifts for out-of-towners, the music and, oh right, the budget.

Add to all this the expectations of a perfect wedding day, pressure from family members and friends who have their own ideas, the sometimes unimaginable costs of making it all happen and easy access to the 500 billion possible wedding scenarios out there, and you can have a stressful situation. To say the least.

IDEA OVERLOAD

Brides these days often use Pinterest — an online tool used to share and organize the things you like and projects you want to take on — to find ideas for their weddings. But Bluffton bride-to-be Ingrid Campbell found the website too overwhelming.

She ended up ditching Pinterest and creating her own homemade mood board, using an actual cork board. There, on that finite space, she hangs anything wedding-related — from photos an…………… continues on Hilton Head Island Packet

When it comes to marriage your ultimate wedding planner is God
News from Hilton Head Island Packet:

I used to think I was pretty good at making plans. Give me my iPhone and a clipboard and I can conquer the world.

Last month, much to my delight, the man I had been falling in love with for almost three years asked me to marry him. It was such an exhilarating couple of minutes, realizing that Jim was, in fact, the one I would spend the rest of my life with. Excitedly, we began sharing the news with friends.

Then the madness began, and I realized I knew nothing of making wedding plans.

“Have you set a date?”

“What colors have you picked?”

“Silk or satin?”

“Sit-down dinner or buffet?”

“DJ or live band?”

“Do you need a photographer?”

“What song will you dance to?”

“How many bridesmaids?”

“Where will you register?”

And that was just the first day.

I hadn’t really contemplated these questions. While dating, my fiance and I talked about things like family, children, finances and our mutual love of bacon. When he got down on one knee and proposed, I was caught off-guard but I wasn’t surprised — it’s not like we had been hanging out all this time just to take advantage of the two for $ 25 special at Applebee’s. We both believed the point of dating wasn’t just to hang out, but to figure out if God was calling us to marriage.

With that “yes” and a celebratory toast, however, the ang…………… continues on Hilton Head Island Packet

Amy Dickinson: Shower without wedding invite is a gift grab
News from Detroit Free Press:

Dear Amy: My sister’s daughter is getting married, and the number of attendees is limited. As a result, my sister is hosting a bridal shower before the wedding only for those who are not invited to the wedding. This seems rather unusual and gives the appearance of looking for gifts.

I can only imagine that all conversations will have to avoid talk of the upcoming wedding ceremony, as none of these people are invited.

As a male, I am not up on what is proper. Is this acceptable in today’s times, or what would you suggest for future situations like this? — Confused

Dear Confused: Being a male doesn’t make a difference in terms of your knowledge of what is appropriate. Thinking about something from someone else’s point of view is all the etiquette knowledge you need.

Common sense tells you that this shower is going to look like a gift grab because it is. The purpose of a shower is to “shower” the couple with gifts. The guests should be people who are invited to the wedding. Otherwise, as you note, there is a massive elephant dressed in tulle dancing in the middle of the room (the wedding, to which none have been invited).

Sometimes coworkers or out-of-town friends not invited to the wedding will throw a shower for a couple, but the difference is that it is their generous idea for an even…………… continues on Detroit Free Press
